"Actress In A Leading Role" 2005

Moving right along to the next year:

2005
The Academy selected:
  • Judi Dench in Mrs. Henderson Presents
  • Felicity Huffman in Transamerica
  • Keira Knightly in Pride and Prejudice
  • Charlize Theron in North Country
  • Reese Witherspoon in Walk The Line
Rather controversial year, but we will see who I name the best of 2005!

Yes! Huffman will win.......... I"m looking forward to your review of Witherspoon. Is her win what makes this year controversial?

Huffman will probably win, Witherspoon will do very poorly I imagine. I am not sure about the others. I have only seen Witherspoon who was not very good.

Well, I don't think there'll be any surprises on your top & bottom choice, but I'm curious as to what you think of the remaining three.

I'm with Huffman, simply fantastic, one of the greatest performances ever!

From what I've seen around the internet, 2005 is called one of history's weakest.

Awful year.

I'd actually vote for Keira Knightly. The only film and performance that really impressed me.

At last! One of history's so called "weakest" years....

I guess you'll go with Huffman, but maybe Theron could win here if seasons won't change! :)

Certainly not Witherspoonand Knightley.

Witherspoon was good, but almost 2D, Knightley felt really forced, except for her rain scene and her confrontation scene with Judi in the end.

Off-topic, but what do you think about Judi Dench in Mrs Brown and Notes on a Scandal now? I think she should have won for both, even though sometimes I am tempted to pick Winslet for Little Children.

I'll review them in the future :)

I bet that you will award a single Oscar rating to one or more of these gals for the first time!
