"Actress In A Leading Role" 1983

I was thinking about it, and I thought I would do some Best Actress profiles kinda like Fritz does. I'll try to do some of the years I haven't covered yet in my rankings already show, so the first year I'll cover is 1983.

The nominees in 1983 were:

  • Jane Alexander in Testament
  • Shirley MacLaine in Terms Of Endearment
  • Meryl Streep in Silkwood
  • Julie Walters in Educating Rita
  • Debra Winger in Terms Of Endearment

I'm looking forward to this! I love Debra Winger's performance and I'd probably pick her, but Shirley was really good. Haven't seen the others. From what I've read, this was a very strong year. Who will be first?

I might do them in alphabetical order, or in the order I rewatch some of them.

I like Shirley the best.

You should do 1968 too! I've heard that's a strong year and Hepburn, Neal, and Streisand were all excellent! I have yet to see Redgrave and Woodward. Also, 1950!

I hope so.

I think Winger's performance is very underrated. I really liked Shirley, but I think Winger does the heavy lifting in Terms and should get more praise. And I miss Fritz! I can't wait till he comes back, lol.

And I watched both Ronee Blakely and Lily Tomlin's performance on Twister's Youtube account and Tomlin's performance impressed me on repeat viewing. A little overrated, but still very good. But I think that Ronee Blakely was on a whole other level with her performance. I want to see all of Shampoo though.
